Kelleys Island
Leaders: Judy Semroc, Naturalist; Tom Bartlett, Master Bird Bander; and Renee Boronka, Director of Conservation Education & Outreach at the Land Conservancy
Join us for a unique overnight experience on Kelleys Island during the height of fall migration. Participants will join naturalist Judy Semroc and master bird bander Tom Bartlett at his banding station for a memorable evening searching for Northern Saw-whet Owls. These tiny, elusive raptors provide an unforgettable wildlife experience. While owl sightings can never be guaranteed, this is historically one of the best times of year to encounter them.
The adventure continues Monday morning as we explore Western Reserve Land Conservancy's protected properties on Kelleys Island, totaling more than 150 acres of conserved natural areas. Weather permitting, we'll return to Tom's banding station to observe the banding of migrating songbirds and witness the remarkable spectacle of fall migration. Kelleys Island is one of the best places in Ohio to experience migrating birds and waterfowl during this season.
Your registration includes one night's lodging at a charming island bed and breakfast, breakfast on Monday morning, and all guided nature activities. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and around the island, ferry fares, and all other meals. A detailed itinerary and travel information will be provided prior to the trip.
Fee: Double occupancy room: $250/person. Single occupancy room: $425/person.
