Ecologist Dr. Shauna Weyrauch of Project Wild Coshocton will share the fascinating story of Ohio's recovering bobcat population. Drawing on years of research using trail cameras across east-central Ohio, she will discuss how scientists track these secretive cats, what has enabled their return, their current status in the state, and the important role they play in healthy ecosystems. Participants will also learn about ongoing efforts to improve habitat for bobcats and other wildlife.

About Dr. Shauna Weyrauch
Shauna Weyrauch is a Senior Lecturer at The Ohio State University at Newark, where she teaches courses in biology and humanitarian engineering. She earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biology from Wright State University and her Ph.D. in Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology from The Ohio State University. Her research interests lie in applied ecology and conservation biology, with topics ranging from wetland restoration and the effects of habitat fragmentation to improving habitat for bobcats through the creation of artificial den sites. She co-founded Project Wild Coshocton in 2015, a research program that seeks to document the recovery of Ohio's bobcat population and better understand the species' habitat requirements.
